Assessity serves Ontario law firms handling Solicitors Act fee assessment proceedings. Our client relationship is exclusively B2B: we retain only with the law firm, not with the underlying client whose fees are in dispute.

WHO IS A TYPICAL CLIENT?

Litigation counsel advising a client who received a legal bill they wish to challenge at assessment. The firm needs an independent, structured analysis of the billing record to support the client's position in the proceeding before an Assessment Officer.

Defence counsel representing a law firm whose accounts have been sent for assessment by a former client. The firm requires an objective analytical report to contextualize the billing record, rates charged, and retainer compliance.

Estate lawyers where a beneficiary or executor is challenging legal fees billed against an estate account. These matters frequently involve complex retainer structures and multi-year billing histories.

Commercial litigators handling fee disputes arising from terminated retainers, disputed contingency arrangements, or billing records produced in discovery.

WHO IS NOT A TYPICAL CLIENT?

Assessity's analytical work is grounded in Ontario law and Ontario fee assessment procedures under the Solicitors Act, RSO 1990, c. S.15. We currently serve Ontario-based law firms only.
